Our Year 5 pupils swapped their classrooms for the camera lens during an exciting visit to the state-of-the-art Sky Up Academy Studios at Sky’s Osterley campus.
The children took part in an immersive media experience, stepping into the roles of journalists, producers, camera operators and editors. Working in professional studios, they collaborated to create their own news reports based on the theme “Our Future.”
It was fantastic to see them exploring big ideas such as space travel, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, confidently sharing their visions for the world ahead.
The pupils also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the Sky campus, gaining a fascinating insight into how a global broadcaster operates. They visited the Innovation Centre and saw where programmes such as Sky News and Sky Sports are produced.
The best thing about the Sky Studios trip was the acting and getting to create our own news report. We loved stepping into the role of real presenters and performing in front of the cameras – it made us feel like real journalists! One of the most exciting moments was seeing the real Spider-Man suit worn by Tom Holland. It was amazing to see something so famous up close – it felt like we were on a real film set!
