Our Year 5 pupils swapped their classrooms for the camera lens during an exciting visit to the state-of-the-art Sky Up Academy Studios at Sky’s Osterley campus.

The children took part in an immersive media experience, stepping into the roles of journalists, producers, camera operators and editors. Working in professional studios, they collaborated to create their own news reports based on the theme “Our Future.”

It was fantastic to see them exploring big ideas such as space travel, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, confidently sharing their visions for the world ahead.

The pupils also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the Sky campus, gaining a fascinating insight into how a global broadcaster operates. They visited the Innovation Centre and saw where programmes such as Sky News and Sky Sports are produced.

Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic educational visit to Kensington Palace, where they stepped back in time to explore the rich history of the British monarchy.

Through engaging workshops led by costumed historical characters, pupils discovered how Queen Victoria rose from fifth in line to the throne to become one of Britain’s most influential monarchs. They examined historical artefacts, journals and paintings, learning about Victoria’s childhood and her preparation for queenship.

The children also travelled through centuries of royal history, exploring the changing role and power of monarchs from Charles I to Queen Victoria. This helped deepen their understanding of monarchy, succession and the evolving relationship between the Crown and Parliament.

The visit brought history vividly to life through role-play, discussion and hands-on learning, making it a truly memorable experience for all.

Year 6 students from East Ferry had an incredible opportunity to explore the world of science and technology at the TeenTech Festival, hosted by the University of Roehampton.

The day was filled with inspiration and hands-on discovery as pupils worked alongside industry experts from leading global companies. From exploring the “City of Tomorrow” to engaging in immersive Insight Zone challenges, the children saw first-hand how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) shapes the world around them.

We are especially proud to announce that three of our Year 6 boys won an award for the Best Safety App Design. They impressed industry judges with their creativity, innovation and ability to explain how their technology could make life “kinder, safer and smarter.”

The festival is designed to show young people that they have the skills to thrive in these exciting industries, and after such a successful day, it is clear that our pupils have very bright futures ahead of them.
