We were absolutely blown away by our Year 6 pupils, who delivered a truly outstanding performance of Wicked for the end of term production.

After weeks of dedicated rehearsals, the children took to the stage with remarkable confidence, enthusiasm and professionalism. Their incredible acting, powerful singing and energetic dance performances captivated the audience from start to finish, making it a fitting and joyful way to celebrate the end of their time at East Ferry.

The commitment shown by the children throughout the rehearsal process was exceptional. They worked tirelessly to learn lines, perfect songs, practise choreography and support one another as a team. Their hard work and determination shone through in every scene, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they brought the story to life. The audience was thoroughly entertained and immensely proud of the talent, resilience and dedication displayed by every performer.

A huge thank you to Miss Mellinger for directing such a fantastic production and to Mr Greaves and Miss Reynolds for their care, dedication and unwavering support as Year 6 teachers throughout the year.

A special thank you also goes to our incredibly talented art teacher, Miss Rokka, whose stunning set design, beautifully painted scenery and expertly crafted props brought the production to life. We would also like to thank Mr Thomas for expertly managing the sound, lighting and technical elements that helped create a truly magical experience for our audience.

Year 1 enjoyed an exciting trip to Chalkwell Beach in Southend as part of their Geography learning. The visit gave the children the opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life as they explored the coastline and identified both human and physical features of the seaside.

The children had a wonderful time searching for shells and rocks, observing crabs in their natural habitat and discovering the many fascinating features of the beach. They showed great curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored their surroundings and made connections with their learning in class.

The trip was a real highlight of the year for many children, with lots of pupils sharing that it was one of their favourite experiences. To round off a fantastic day, everyone enjoyed a refreshing ice lolly before heading back to school with lots of happy memories.

We are delighted to share that our school has been awarded the Judicium Safety Award 2026 in recognition of our high levels of compliance with health, safety and fire safety requirements.

This award reflects our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, secure and supportive environment for all pupils, staff and visitors. It is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team, who consistently uphold the highest standards of health and safety across the school.

We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition and will continue to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of our school community remain at the heart of everything we do.

Year 5 were fortunate to attend the Science Summer School Fair at Saint Paul’s Way Secondary School. The day was filled with fun, exciting and interactive activities that inspired the children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for science.

The event began with a series of engaging TED-style talks from scientists, who shared how their work is helping to reduce food waste and protect endangered animals. The pupils then took part in an exciting science experiment involving dry ice, discovering how it reacts under different conditions.

The day concluded with a special tea party hosted by Professor Brian Cox. He spoke about his career in science and a selection of Year 5 pupils had the opportunity to ask thoughtful and insightful questions. It was a memorable experience that left the children feeling inspired and eager to learn more about the world of science.

Reception children had a fantastic day visiting the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace. They learned all about the King, Queen and the Royal Family, discovering the special items used during a coronation, including the crown, sceptre, orb and royal robes.

The children were amazed to see the magnificent 250-year-old Gold State Coach and were excited to meet one of the King’s horses, Icon. They also enjoyed taking part in a royal treasure hunt before ending the day with a coronation role-play activity, proudly waving their flags and shouting, “Long live the King!”

Year 4 Plastic Fishing

As part of our Personal Development curriculum, Year 4 pupils took part in a Plastic Fishing activity at the docks, helping to remove litter from the water while learning about the importance of caring for our environment.

The children were surprised by the number of items they found that should not have been in the docks and enjoyed working together to make a positive difference to their local community.

Year 3 Plastic Fishing

Year 3 also had a fantastic time plastic fishing,enjoying the beautiful sunshine and refreshing breeze, they sailed around the docks searching for and collecting litter from the water.

The children showed great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the trip, working hard to help make our local area a cleaner and tidier place. It was wonderful to see their commitment to caring for the environment and learning about the importance of keeping our waterways free from rubbish.

Year 2 enjoyed an exciting and memorable visit to London Zoo as part of their learning.

During the trip, the children had the opportunity to see a variety of fascinating animals, including monkeys, llamas, butterflies and gorillas. They were particularly amazed by the gorillas and loved watching the playful monkeys.

A highlight of the day was visiting the butterfly garden, where the children were delighted to see colourful butterflies fluttering all around them. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity to learn more about animals and their habitats while exploring the zoo’s many exhibits.

We were delighted to welcome Howard from Front Row Music, who led an engaging and inspiring assembly for our pupils.

Children had the opportunity to learn about a range of musical instruments and experience live demonstrations, sparking excitement across the school. As many of you know, several of our children have already signed up for the in-school music sessions, including ukulele, guitar and keyboard lessons.

These small-group lessons have proven incredibly popular, with pupils enjoying the opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and learn exciting new songs each week.

Our pupils recently took part in the LBTH Swimming Gala, demonstrating excellent determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the event.

It was wonderful to see so many children challenging themselves, supporting their peers and celebrating each other’s successes. The gala comes at an especially important time, with Water Safety Week fast approaching. This national awareness week highlights the importance of learning to swim, understanding water safety and knowing how to stay safe in and around different water environments.

A huge congratulations to all pupils who received medals for their outstanding performances, and well done to every participant for their enthusiasm, effort and positive attitude.

We are incredibly proud of everyone involved, with special congratulations to the East Ferry Girls’ Team, who achieved an outstanding 2nd Place Overall.

This week, our Reception children enjoyed an exciting and memorable trip to Mudchute Park and Farm, where they had the opportunity to observe a wide variety of animals up close and develop their understanding of the world around them.

Throughout the afternoon, the children explored the farm with great enthusiasm, learning about different animal habitats, what animals eat and how healthy food helps both animals and people grow, stay active and remain strong.

They were especially excited to meet the farm animals and discuss their features, behaviours and needs. The children asked thoughtful questions, shared their ideas and made meaningful connections to their classroom learning.

The visit also encouraged the children to use their senses, build confidence and develop important social skills as they explored together.
